I started studying coding before the AI boom, and I really enjoyed the process of searching for answers, writing code, debugging and actually building software. But now that AI has become this good at generating code (I know I’m still relevant and necessary to the process), for me, it’s not fun anymore. It’s an unenjoyable 9–5, very easy and simple, and I’m thinking of shifting
I’m thinking of shifting to another tech industry, like cybersecurity or SRE. Have these fields been affected by AI in the same way web development roles have?

In my opinion the mindset of running away from AI is not healthy, everything either already or will eventually get impacted by AI, so you are in the lucky timeframe where you have the opportunity to learn it, use and expand your horizons while it is still manageable, if the work is unenjoyable, maybe because the sophistication bar for the current project is not high enough, so AI can just take it end to end, so you need to think deeper about where you can take things now that you have this power that can help you reach farther than you've ever thought was possible.
